What the Government Actually Charges
These are published by the Ministry of External Affairs. We pass them through at cost — we do not mark them up, and they appear on your invoice exactly as they appear here.
| Line item | Amount | Unit |
|---|---|---|
MEA apostille fee Set by the Ministry of External Affairs | ₹50 | per document |
General attestation (not apostille) A different service with no government fee. Rarely distinguished from apostille elsewhere. | NIL | — |
Authorised-agency collection fee Government-mandated, paid to the authorised collection channel | ₹84 | per document |
Scanning fee Worked example: document (1 page) + passport (2 pages) = 3 × ₹3 = ₹9 | ₹3 | per page |
| Government pass-through Single-page document with a 2-page passport copy | ₹143 | per document |
Worth knowing
Attestation and apostille are not the same service. General attestation carries no government fee at all; the apostille costs ₹50. Most sites in this market do not distinguish the two, which is one reason the quoted "government fee" varies so wildly across them.
Source: mea.gov.in. Last verified 30 June 2026. Exactly one competitor of eighteen publishes this breakdown accurately — and stops there, omitting its own service fee, so a customer still cannot work out a total. The next section is the part that is missing everywhere else.

| Passport & ID Copy | Notary → SDM → MEA | ₹2,100 |
The same price for every document is deliberate. Our cost does not vary meaningfully between a birth certificate and a power of attorney, so charging differently would be arbitrary. Where a document needs notarisation first, that is a separate line rather than a different price.
One Turnaround, and What Actually Drives It
| Stage | Time | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
| Notarisation (where needed) | Same day | Us |
| SDM pre-authentication | 3–7 working days | The SDM office |
| MEA apostille | 1–2 working days after deposit | The MEA |
| Total processing | 3–7 working days | — |
| Courier transit | Additional, varies by city | The courier |
We publish processing time separately from courier transit because they are different things and only one of them is under anyone's control. Most of this market publishes a single door-to-door figure, and the published range across competitors runs from "1–2 working days" to "12–15 days" — with at least one site contradicting itself inside a single page.
The reason we can commit to 3–7 working days is the SDM route. The State Home Department alternative runs 10–20+ days, and no amount of effort on our side compresses it. Where a destination or receiving institution specifically requires Home Department attestation, we tell you before you pay rather than quietly missing the date. More on SDM vs Home Department.
Why Apostille Prices Are Usually Hidden
Of eighteen apostille providers competing on these searches, four publish any rupee figure at all on the page that ranks. One publishes the government's fee schedule accurately and stops before its own charges. Another built a genuinely good price calculator and put an email form in front of the answer — on searches where the entire intent is to find out what something costs.
The commercial logic is not mysterious. A hidden price means a conversation, a conversation means a chance to sell, and a quote given individually can be adjusted to what the buyer seems able to pay. We would rather publish one number and stand behind it. If our price is higher than someone else's, you can see that immediately and decide — that seems a fair trade for not having to hand over your phone number to find out what a birth certificate apostille costs.
It also means the ₹1,957 we charge sits in plain view next to the ₹143 the government takes. That gap is our margin, and disclosing it is the point rather than an oversight.
